The initial reason for setting up this website was that it seemed like a necessary supplement to pursuing a career in academia – especially in the absence of an affiliation with a university and the credibility that may or may not supply. Over the summer of 2022 it became increasingly clear that a career within academia (narrowly defined) was no longer a viable option. Rather than close the site completely, I figure that I will preserve it as a kind of archive for the projects that required something like institutional support to survive. Yet I also want to use this space to publish shorter pieces that I have been working on (but no longer need worry about prestige) and perhaps as a venue to continue posting – interludes between projects and interludes between work.
